Best Bets for the Weekend

A lot of holiday events are beginning this weekend. For a list of more holiday events, click the Holiday Events tab above.

Now-January 8 Conservatory Crossing at Garfield Park Conservatory (2505 Conservatory Drive). Walk through a winter wonderland and enjoy model trains, lights and poinsettias. Admission is $3 per person, $8 per family and free for 3 and under.

December 1-4 The Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus is at Conseco Fieldhouse. Tickets are $13-75.

December 1-4 Butler Ballet presents The Nutcracker. The show is at Clowes Memorial Hall December 1 at 7:30pm, December 2 and 3 at 8pm and December 4 at 2pm.

December 2-23 The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra presents the annual variety show Yuletide Celebration. The shows are held at Hilbert Circle Theatre on Monument Circle.

December 3 Winter Market at the Eiteljorg Museum (500 West Washington Street). Shop for one-of-a-kind gifts from more than 40 regional artists. The Winter Market is included with museum general admission. 

December 3 Holiday Author Fair at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center (450 W. Ohio Street). Book lovers can meet more than 70 Indiana-related authors. The Author Fair is on December 3 from noon-4pm. Attendees can have books signed and attend special presentations. Parking is available in in the White River State Park garage on Washington Street for free with purchase of admission and validation.

December 3 Brownsburg's Christmas Under the Stars Parade and Light Show. Festivities are from 6-8pm and the light show is at the Town Hall, 61 N. Grant St.

December 3 Skate with Santa at the Indiana/World Skating Academy at 1:30 & 3:30pm. Admission with skate rental is $8 for 12 and older, $7 for ages 5-11 and $6 for ages 4 and younger.

December 1-31 Gingerbread Village at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park (13400 Allisonville Rd). Take a look at this unique structures made from gingerbread. It's included with general admission. Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for kids 2-12. 

December 2-3, 9-10, 16-17 Conner Prairie by Candlelight (13400 Allisonville Rd). Take a guided tour though Prairietown on Christmas Eve. Visit a Hanukkah celebration and a Christmas Eve party. Reservations are required 317-776-6006 or 800-966-1836.

December 2-3,9-10, 16-17 Dinner with Santa at Conner Prairie (13400 Allisonville Rd). Enjoy dinner and a visit with Santa. Tickets are $18.95 adult non-member, $16.95 adult member, $9.95 ages 2-12 and $8.95 youth member. To make a reservation call 317-776-6006 or 800-966-1836.

December 3, 10 and 17 Conner Prairie Interactive History Park (13400 Allisonville Rd) invites you to 1836 Prairie town where residents are preparing for the holidays. Go on a horse-drawn wagon ride, enjoy a holiday lunch, explore Gingerbread Village and much more. Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for kids 2-12.

December 3 and 4 Bill Hixson's Holiday Ornaments and More at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park (13400 Allisonville Rd). Meet Bill Hixson, White House decorator since the early 80s, buy glass ornaments and have ornaments signed by Hixson. No admission required.
