St. Patrick's Day in Indy

Get your green on in Indianapolis! Here are a couple family friendly ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Canal - Monday, March 16 - 5 p.m. - On Monday, March 16, head down to the canal to watch it turn green! Festivities will include live music and local celebrities.

St. Patrick's Day Parade Presented by the Hoosier Lottery - Tuesday, March 17 - 11:30 a.m. - Enjoy the St. Patrick's Day Parade on Tuesday, March 17. While your downtown, stop by the Parade Block Party on Vermont Street from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Celebrate the day by making crafts with your kids.

Check out for great craft ideas such as shamrock pencil toppers, shamrock wreath, and hair accessories.

The Christmas season is here! There are some many great things to do with your family in Central Indiana. Here are a few highlights.

**FREE** Christmas at Lilly House - Indianapolis Museum of Art Grounds - Now-January 4 - See the home decorated in the style of a 1930s and 40s style for the holidays.

Children's Museum of Indianapolis - Jolly Days - Now-January 4 - Take a ride down the Yule Slide, visit with Santa, go "ice fishing" and more winter activities.

Indiana State Museum - Celebration Crossing - Now-December 31 - Take a ride on the LS Ayres train, meet Santa and more. Celebration Crossing is at the Indiana State Museum Now- December 31.

**FREE** Circle of Lights - Monument Circle - - Head downtown to see the holiday decorations on Monument Circle.

**FREE** Mail a Letter to Santa - Monument Circle - Have a letter for Santa? Drop it in a special mailbox on the east side of Monument Circle. The mailbox will be there until December 18. *Please note - All letters must have a return address for Santa to reply! (stamped, self-addressed envelope appreciated).

Christmas at the Zoo - Now-December 30 - Wednesdays-Sundays 5-9pm - Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day - Take an evening stroll through the Indianapolis Zoo to enjoy the Christmas lights, carolers and more.

Indiana Repertory Theatre - Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol - Now-December 26 - See this classical Christmas tale on stage at the Indiana Repertory Theatre.

Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra - Duke Energy Yuletide Celebration - December 5-23 - Take your family to this holiday tradition in downtown Indianapolis.

Eiteljorg Museum - Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure - Now-January 19-Watch model trains wind past landmarks from Indianapolis and through the American West.

Winterland Light Show - Ellis Park in Danville - 600 E. Main Street - Now-December 30 - Drive through the musically animated Winterland Light Show. The show runs Sunday-Thursday from 6-9pm and Friday and Saturday from 6-10pm. Admission is $8. Get a coupon for $3 off at

Conner Prairie - Gingerbread Village - Now-January 4 - Take a stroll through a village that looks good enough to eat. Visit the Gingerbread Village at Conner Prairie. The village was created by both professional and amateur builders. It's free with museum admission.

Conner Prairie by Candlelight - Take a 60 minute guided tour to experience the holidays in 1836. The tours are December 5-6, 12-13, 19-20. For reservations call 317-776-6006.

Mary Poppins On Stage!

Take your family to see Mary Poppins on stage at Beef and Boards Dinner Theatre. The Disney musical is on stage through June 29.

23rd Annual Shamrock Run and Walk - Saturday, March 15 10 a.m. - Start off the day with a run or walk. This four-mile course starts and finishes on Monument Circle. Afterward, enjoy ShamRockin' the Circle.

How I Became A Pirate - Pyramid Players - Beef and Boards - Saturday 1 p.m. - See the popular children's book by Melinda Long come alive on stage. The show is just one hour long and includes a snack and drink.

Ansel Adams - Eiteljorg Museum - Now-August 3- This is one of my favorite photographers. I have not been yet this time, but the last time the exhibit was in town, it was fantastic. This exhibit showcases photographs by the late Ansel Adams. Admission is $12; $10 for seniors, $6 for ages 5-17 and 4 and under are free.

PowerShares QQQ at Bankers Life Fieldhouse - Tonight, head to Bankers Life Fieldhouse to tennis greats John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl. The PowerShares QQQ Challenge begins at 7 p.m.  Tickets start at $25.

Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra - Heart and Soul: An Evening of Romance - Spend Valentine's Day with the Symphony. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at Hilbert Circle Theatre.

Indiana Ice Vs. Tri-City Storm - Enjoy hockey with your Valentine's. The Indiana Ice take on the Tri-City Storm February 14 and 15 at the Pan Am Pavilion downtown.

Indiana State Museum - Indiana Art Fair - Shop from more than 60 Indiana Artists during the Indiana Art Fair on February 14 and 15. A variety of mediums are available. Friday is preview night from 5:30-8 p,m. and tickets are $25 or $20/members. Saturday's admission is included with regular museum admission. The fair is Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
